About
Stone Meets Clay was born out of a passion for pottery and a desire to bring people together through creativity. During the isolating days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw an opportunity to create something meaningful: a space where students and communities could deepen relationships, form new connections, and escape the monotony of daily campus life.
Founder Jackson Stone spent most of his high school and college years pursuing pottery. He's always found it to be a powerful medium for expression, relaxation, and bonding. Whether shaping clay or painting a masterpiece, the process of creation is both exciting and approachable, making it the perfect outlet for connection.
Founded in 2021, Stone Meets Clay started with a simple mission: to foster creativity and community. Through our events, we've watched teams transform. Coworkers who barely knew each other leave as friends. Groups that arrived quiet and reserved become animated and collaborative. The process of working with clay breaks down barriers in ways traditional team building never could. Our events offer a unique, unstructured environment where everyone can unwind, connect, and leave with something truly their own: a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Today, Stone Meets Clay has grown beyond a single pottery studio. We now span multiple universities and communities across the country. By sharing our love for pottery, we hope to inspire others to find their passion, connect with others, and create lasting memories.
Howdy! My name is Jackson, and I'm so excited you're here!
In high school I begrudgingly took a ceramics class to satisfy the arts requirement, and ended up falling in love. The ability to turn dirt into something beautiful pulled me in and hasn't let me go. Since 2021 I've been selling my work online and hosting events in Ithaca, NY and beyond. I've studied with potters across the United States, Europe, and New Zealand, and continue to be bewildered by how much there is to learn.
What I love most is watching people connect through clay. Whether it's helping someone discover their creativity or bringing a group together through shared creation, pottery has this unique ability to build community. Every event reinforces why I started this: art brings people together in ways nothing else can.
Outside of pottery, I love all things active and outdoors. I rowed on the Varsity Heavyweight Rowing Team at Cornell University, and now work as a professional Scuba Diver guiding guests on chartered yachts in the Caribbean. I play guitar and saxophone, and love traveling and hiking.
